Garmin Updates

Garmin. You have a wonderful product. I love your watches and am so glad I switched over from Polar. But please do something about the constant updates. It's to the point of being obnoxious. Every two weeks my watch just keeps spinning because of a new update. Is it possible to spread these out and do it all at once every 3-4 months? It's ruining the user experience to constantly see the watch updating. I appreciate you taking the time to hear me. Thank you. And to be clear if it wasn't for the constant updates I would give Garmin watches a 10/10.

  • They are generally on a Qly update Cycle now. (unless they find a major issue to fix)

17.26 was in Nov, 18.22 was end Feb and 19.18 end May

There were two small updates to address some functionality issues in April

    Betas are different.

    This is a nice list

  • You can also always disable Automatic Updates.

Settings > System > Software Update > Auto Update = OFF

This will allow you not to be surprised by Updates. Then when you have time and want to check for updates you can connect to W-Fi from the watch directly and check for updates:

Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates

Also you can check the Feature post of this sub-forum to check the lastest version. I always do it this way and only update when I see the announcement here.

On the other hand, I'm thankful for the frequent updates and new features. Maybe some of them are not necessary for me, but I'm sure another user is interested in them and all the improvements as updates are welcome. I would even like to test the Beta versions, but I don't do because I don't have an easy (one click) tool to revert back to the previous Beta or Live firmware if I don't like something.
