19.18 Touchscreen in Self Evaluation disabled

I'm using my FR 955 with touchscreen disabled during run activities. However after a run, when the 'Self Evaluation' screen appears, the touchscreen was always enabled, which was quite comfortable. However, with 19.18 it is disabled. GARMIN why are you changing things, users got used to without any need. Please change it back.

  • I also noticed this after a ride yesterday.  Never had to use the 'buttons' to work that screen before.  Only change was to update to 19.18 Confused

  • Agree please change that back garmin. Touchscreen need for evaluation after activity.

  • Mine is working as before  (i.e. with touch on the evaluation screen ) on the FR965

Did you do a soft reset after installing the update?

Also maybe toggle touch for activities on / off and see if it triggers something?

  • Yes it's annoying have touch disabled after training.

  • Im on the 955 solar. None of those worked. Hopefully Garmin pick it up in the next drop

  • All, thank you for sharing.

We are tracking the impact of this change. If you would like the ability to use Touch on these evaluation screens, you will need to enable Touch during activities.

If you would like to be added to the feedback of this report, please reply to my comment with permission.

    Thank you!

  • Thanks for looking into it. For the next update can you change it back to non touch during activity and touch for the evaluation. It was better that way. Or if you can give the range of options even better. Thanks

  • Garmin-Sierra, thank you for your reply. I know that I could activate touch during activities, but this is exactly what I do not want. During a run activity, I'm not able to execute precise touch actions and it is quite likely to execute something unintentionally. After the activity is finished, I'm able again to use the touchscreen, so it should be enabled. The point to consider an activity as finished, should be the 'save' action. This was perfectly implemented before 19.18.

With your last comment about the feedback and the permission, I'm not really sure what you mean.

    Thank you!

  • Came to the forum looking for if anyone else was encountering this bug after the update and find out it’s a ‘feature’. Please revert this change or give people options so I can choose to revert this.
While exercising I do not want touch enabled because it’s easy to knock the screen and frankly while running I don’t have the dexterity to click into things. Buttons are fine. Touchscreen not so much. When I stop the run and then save the activity I’m not running anymore and so I do have the time to use the touchscreen and find it more intuitive than the buttons. I do not want to be locked out of the touch screen when I am able to take the time to use it. You have my permission to use this feedback

  • Hi Garmin-Sierra, I prefer touch screen enabled during self-evaluation.
