Question about Soft Reset

Hi! After a Soft Reset I did my watch was no longer recognized by my phone. I needed to delete it and add it back. In fact until I got the registration e-mail again "Thanks for Registering Your Forerunner® 955 Solar". It also asked me for the 7 steps to finish initially configuring my 955 and asked me for the time I normally sleep, just like when it is new. Other settings were fine as they were, such as WiFi, etc.

For those who perform Soft Reset frequently after a fw update, etc, do you always have to do all these steps afterwards?

Thanks!

  • Not experienced that with just a soft reset.

That  happens if I completely remove the device from phone and Connect and Reinstall Connect and re-pair.

  • Thank you! And after a Soft Reset, when it turns on again, is it still connected to the phone as if nothing happened?
    Strange what happened to me.
Could it be because I also tried changing the region and that caused a problem?

  • You said you had to delete the watch and add it again, in which case those things are likely to happen??

A soft reset performed by holding the light switch down, is nothing more than a forced shut down until you power on again.

The watch not recognised after this is more likely to be the Bluetooth connection. Closing and reopening the app or phone Bluetooth might have resolved it.

  • Thanks, yes I know those steps but nothing worked so I decided to delete it from the Bluetooth connections on the phone.

When I held down the button it showed it was going to launch the emergency message and then it turned off. I turned it on again and having the bluetooth ON on both devices, they did not “see” each other. I turned off both devices, turned them back on and the same thing. That's when I decided to remove the watch from the phone.

Another day, with extra time, I will try it again and see what happens. I don't do it now because I don't want to go through everything again hahaha. Thanks!

  • is nothing more than a forced shut down

Soft Reset is a little more - App cache will be cleaned too. It can be very helpful if you experienced some issues after SW update or so.

  • Thanks! It seems that in mine it took some more parameters in the "soft reset" JoyIt wasn't a problem anyway, a couple of minutes selecting the options again and that's it.
I was surprised that in the product help there is no information about the Soft Reset, it was what I looked for first to see if it was normal but I found nothing.
