955 with 19.18 - Heart rate alarm did not go off though target heart rate was exceeded

I did a treadmill run today with intervals. I have the alarm set to go off when I exceed 186 BPM (95%). This has been efficient at helping me not to overdo it. When the alarm goes off, I just don't do more intervals.

Today, when I looked at the run afterwards, it turns out I exceeded 186 in the last three intervals - which funny enough coincided with me feeling less motivation to do these three intervals. I stopped after 8 intervals, because that is my hard cap - again to help myself from going over board. I checked in Garmin Connect, and the treadmill alarm above 186 BPM is still active according to the setting. Has anyone else missed alarms with this firmware?

  • I would not trust such a critical health function to a garmin watch. The inconsistent HR readings and similar problems with HR sensor are being reported all over this forum since months and they do not bother to address or fix it even in a new patch.

  • Thanks for answering Slight smile

I forgot to mention that I use the HRM pro+ with the watch.

I have done another run where the alarm didn't go off at 187 - but this time it did trigger at 189. Still set to trigger above 186, so as you say, one should probably not put too much faith in the heart rate alarm.
