A few days ago my Forerunner 955 started randomly freezing. The watch freezes and becomes completely unresponsovie.
When it has happened:
- During activities(run/bike)
- When the watch was charging from 220W - every time I charge the watch it freezes
- When the watch was charging/connected to the laptop - every time I charge the watch it freezes
- I wear the watch without interacting with them
- At night when I slept(2am) and the watch was on my wrist;
What happens when the watch stuck/freezes:
- Putting to the charge doesn't update any information on the screen;
- Pulse Ox sensor also not working(doesn't flash green light)
- The battery usage is quite high - it happened last night while I was sleeping. The battery went from 63% to15% in the morning.
What I do to fix the issue when the watch is stuck/freez is to hold the top-left button(hard reset). It turns off the watch. After that:
- In 95% of the cases turning on its back (hold top-left button) is not working. Almost always I need to wait for 30-60min to it on back again.
This morning I started charging the watch up again, because it froze l night and drained the battery. It finally froze, I was able to force turn it off. But now it's not even turning on any longer. At all. It's been over an hour now.
This hasn't happened before. During the last week I updated the watch software version. The issue didn't start immediately after the update but soon after. I haven't done any other changes to the watch. I even removed all ConnectIQ apps and watch faces I had on the watch in the hopes this would solve the issue.
Let me end by saying that this is very upsetting. This is a replacement watch after my first watch would randomly drop connection to my smart phone and was unable to regain it. Now this starts happening.
To add insult to injury, I can't even properly contact support. Every time I try to send an email via their website, I receive a a 500 HTTP error and nothing gets send to them.
These watches cost a lot of money. You would expect them to be realiable. This is the second watch in one year that has serious deal breaker issues. Before this, I had a Huawey GT2 waatch. Let me tell you, it never had any issues whatsoever.
With the money they are charging for these faulty products, you would expect Garmin to be able to afford a better support website. And to deliver watches that don't break down 6 months after getting them. Even if they replace this one, now I will forever wonder if the latest software update will break my watch again. I will forever think "When will this watch break down?"
