Altimeter issues from Swimming - Is this fixed with 955/965?

Hi there,

Apologies if this has been asked previously - I will soon be receiving my 3rd FR 945 replacement - due to barometric altimeter fails from regular pool swimming. (On top of 3 replacement 935's)

Is this still an issue ongoing with the newer models?

I'm having two minds about selling the 'new' 945 arriving, on ebay, and getting a 955 soon, but would like to know if this watch is any more robust for a typical AG triathlete training 12-15 hours per week.

Thanks!

    1. Had the same experience. I use my old (3rd) 945 for swimming and restrict wearing my 965 for non-swim activities.
  • I don't know about the 955, have not swum with it yet. I used to put a piece of electrical tape over the sensor port of my Fenix 7 whenever I went to the pool. As I understand it, the baro/temp sensor is powered off during the Pool swim activity to prevent damage to it. But I do not have the Pool swim activity running all the time while I am in and around the pool, and I don't think the water vapor does the sensor any favors. Paranoid probably.

  • I have had at least 5 replacement 955s for the same issue. I work in a pool and was told to soak the watch for 15 mins after every pool entry. Its made no difference whatsoever and this latest watch is showing crazy elevation readings after only 4 months of use.

It’s so frustrating. The barometer/altimeter port on a watch designed for swimming in just does not work. They need to change the design asap.
