During navigation FR955 is showing cursor on the road while you're in a different position

I was doing a trail run activity suddenly I had two parallel gravel roads with a 50 meters separation.

I didn't know which was the road I had to choose.

I immediately look at the map on the watch and I see one road (instead of two) and the cursor is on the road.

I keep running but I then understand that FR955 is showing the cursor on the road but I'm in reality running on the untracked road (not present on the map).

It seems like it has some sort of magnetism, so the cursor goes on the road even if you're not there.

Expected: show the cursor on the map in the middle of nowhere (because the road you're running on is untracked on the map)

Actual: cursor is shown on the wrong road, giving false information

  • The current official firmware has a bug which causes the lock-on-road setting to be always on, regardless of what has actually been set in the settings. That's already been fixed in the current betas.

(So, if the bug bothers you, consider joining the beta for this round, and you'll get a fix immediately.)

  • Looking at how erratic is the stable version I'm super afraid of installing a beta version on my FR955

I don't know how useful can be this feature. Show me on the road while I'm not on the road... wow Slight smile for what? why?

Anyway thank you for the information.

I will wait for the next stable version.

  • Why lock-on-road would be useful? Well, if you are doing an activity where you know you are going to be on the road (like road running or cycling), and you are in an area with possibly poor GPS reception (lots of tall buildings, cliffs, etc.), then it's useful that on the road, not inside a building or a cliff face. I have lock-on-road enabled for cycling. But you are right, it's definitely not useful for trail running and hiking (which I also do).

I've been on the latest beta cycle partly just because this bug annoyed me, and I've had no complaints. The beta forum seems to be quite quiet also, this time the beta is mainly about fixing existing bugs, there doesn't seem to be too many new ones to fix.
