So much weird behavior lately

Hi,

I noticed three things lately:

A) what does "Ber Distanz x km" mean? I just set "time" and "target HR zone"

B) I tried to perform the same workout today, but the workout timer did not work. It was showing 3:59 most of the time, then sometimes went to 3:58 but immediately turned back to 3:59

C) I have "poolsize" in the Road Cycling activity profile. Why?

Cheers

  • For A, it was well documented by Garmin here: support.garmin.com/.../

For the other two, I don’t know what happens.

  • Thx!

    One solved, two to go.

  • On the poolsize question, I'm in contact w/ Garmin Sierra and keep you posted on any progress.

  • Hey did you figure out what „Ber Distanz“ means? I couldn’t find anything on the page mentioned above.

  • I think "Ber Distanz" is the estimated distance for that time-based step. It's saying that you're expected to cover 1 km in 3:00 and 0.3 km in 1:00.

I see this for running workouts too -- in English the label is "Est. Distance" (Estimated Distance.) I will say that the estimate is very conservative and seems to be based on average pace for all runs, for the last few weeks. (So it doesn't take into account the fact that people will probably run much faster during a workout.)

EDIT: Also, here's the relevant text from the support page linked above: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=wZ52AaLbLG2GC1Lxu2l4k7

    Workout Time and Distance Estimates

Workout estimates are designed to give you an estimated time from the target distance, or an estimated distance from the target time in the programed steps. If your workout has any steps based on a target other than time or distance you will not get an estimate for that workout as a whole. Similarly, if there is a step based on a target other than timer or distance it will not have an estimate.

Your estimates are based off your historical pace for that activity type. If you do not have enough historical data for a personal estimate, default estimates will be provided.

  • Ahh that makes sense, thanks! Ber could be for „Berechnet“ (german for „calculated“)
