App and widget Messenger

Hi, why don't I read anything on the forum about the new Messenger app/widget? I installed it on my smartphone and on the fr955 and now I can send and write messages directly from the watch without it necessarily being a reply message to a message sent to me by others. I find it an "important" novelty. waiting, greetings

  • Didn;t even know this was added (and guess that's the case for most)...

You can send messages when connected to your phone I guess? (Whatsapp?)... I'd think typing would be *** so can't understand why I'd want to use it as it means the phone is near anyway? At most a general "ok' or something perhaps.

But hey, to each their own :)

  • Garmin actually recently added a T9 keyboard which works a lot better with touch than the circular keyboard. Typing isn’t 100% useless anymore.

Def not as good as the qwerty keyboard on an apple watch or a handwriting recognition keyboard (as in some apple watch apps). Also doesn’t have autocomplete afaik.

I applaud them for trying tho.

Ofc use cases with small text like a fully featured keyboard are where the argument for AMOLED becomes pretty convincing, due to the higher resolution.

    (Whatsapp?)

It’s Garmin Messenger. Looks like it uses SMS and maybe email too? I didn’t try it bc I don’t want to give Garmin my phone number.

  • Ah, that's pretty awesome... Notice it now when renaming for example a saved location as well (you see the circular one, but has an option to switch to T9). indeed makes it a LOT nicer to type text.... thanks for the tip.

  • HI, For example, for me it can be useful if I have my phone in my backpack or if I'm at work and I want to respond without having to pick up the smartphone and with the keyboard I can also quite easily write a few sentences longer than a simple ok.
