Download map stop at 17%

There are several post about Downloading TopoActive maps not responding queued or very slow.

I have observed another situation. After selecting what I want to download in GCM and plug charging cable I can agree or not to start downloading.

It works quite slow, but that is still fine, but after some time in my case about 30 minutes screen keeps showing no progress. 17% and not going forward.

I can wait long and nothing will change.

Then I can press Back button, watch will ask if I want to stop sync (why not to stop download?) and return to normal operation.

When I connect watch next time to charging cable, even few minutes later I can see eg. rapid progress to 34% then steady slow download going forward 35, 36 etc

And then again after some time it stops, but I guess it is still downloading just screen is not updated.

Could you reply here with +1 if you observe the same thing?

how we should report this if there will be several similar observations? Each one of us via Support? It is probably not new bug related to beta 19.12

Thanks

  • Yes, that's all right! I repeated the download for 6 nights in a row, and finally the map installed!

  • I have the same issue. While trying to download the South American map, the download stops at around 15%. Even after several hours (3h the first try, 1h the 2nd time), I can't see any progress. Have you found any workaround? I'm running on v19.18.

  • Same for me. Waiting for a few hours but progress didn't move.

  • If you're doing this with Garmin Connect on a PC or Mac, do you have enough free space on the computer's main hard drive to download the map? GC will download to the hard drive first before beginning transferring it to the watch.

  • I am not sure what you are trying to say. Could you be more specific - step by step how to update TopoActive maps on GC and then upload this to FR955?

  • Not the fanciest solution, but I got around the issue by stopping the download every time it got stuck (e.g., it downloads up to 12% in 5 minutes, then stops for over 10 minutes) and then starting the download again. Eventually, it would freeze again, but I would repeat the process until it finished. Although I received an error message when the download completed, the map was ready to go and I've been using it ever since.

P.s.: I was doing from the Garmin itself.
