No way to turn off double click flashlight function?

Just got off the phone with tech support who tells me that the double click flashlight function on my FR955 is a "feature" That's baked into the watch and not able to be turned off.

Multiple times each day I look down at my watch and find that the flashlight has been turned on and is draining the battery. Is there seriously no way to adjust this or turn off the double click function?

  • Are you using a downloaded watchface from the store? Then delete it and use a built-in Garmin watchface. Many IQ watchfaces have a negative influence on the double-click speed.

  • Idk if this helps, but with the "new" haptics feature in the latest firmware (which was always present in Fenix/Epix), when the flashlight turns on via double-click LIGHT, the watch vibrates / gives you haptic feedback.

Hopefully now it will be more noticeable if and when the flashlight is accidentally turned on.

I'm kinda surprised this happens to you. My buttons never get pressed by accident during the course of an ordinary day. I have small arms so maybe that could be it.

I agree that it would be cool if there was a way to turn this off and/or to make the double-click LIGHT button a fully customizable hotkey.

  • Who knew. I didn't know there was a flashlight function until I read this post.

Hilariously enough I accidentally triggered my flashlight like 3 times since I posted this. The haptic feedback doesn't really help

  • Not that I wished ill on anyone, but it is nice to have company!
