If you're in Europe/UK it's still under warranty (2 years).
I do notice a scuff on the edge of the watch near to the blotch on the display. Did you have a fall?

No. This was when I was swimming backstroke style, scratched on the edge of the pool.
I had this issue with my 945 two years ago, and ProParts (Garmin’s representative in Br) offered me a refurbished device with a discount in exchange for my broken watch.
But mine was out of warranty.
