Track run group the lap in a wrong way

I am using 18.22 and I went to track run for these two days.  I suddenly found out that my watch record my track runs in a wrong way.  It grouped them into interval training with recovery, which is not what I want.  I just do a tempo run on a track.  Every lap I push the lap button to see the time.  I was using 1:58 per and my 955 get into interval training.  Also, the GPS is alway 10 meter short for each lap.

Is this bug fixed in 18.23?

My record can be access here.  drive.google.com/.../view

  • Ok, after looking at the the TCX file and FIT file.  TCX did not do the grouping.  That means:

    1. When processing FIT file, program group the lap in a wrong way.

    or

    2. Track run gets into interval mode automatically.

No  matter what.  They are incorrect.

  • Yeah, newer Garmins (including 955) automatically try to categorize your runs into intervals when:

    - you press the lap button

    - you run alternating laps at different speeds

This happens on the device (not after the upload). You can see this by looking at the activity on your watch -  the activity summary will mention intervals, and the page which normally shows laps will be replaced by intervals.

This support article talks about the feature (unfortunately there isn't too much information here): [https://support.garmin.com/en-CA/?faq=QF6ojxsT3523NqpQsqZhT6]

In your case, there seems to be enough variation between your average paces for each lap (4:44/km to 7:40/km) that the auto-interval mechanism was triggered.

I don't think you can do anything about this except ignore them, manually recategorize the intervals after the fact, or submit a bug report.

I did notice that Garmin used to show the auto intervals in both the Connect app and the website, but somewhat recently, the app no longer shows them (at least for me). Maybe enough users complained for Garmin to decide to hide this feature for mobile users.
