Tiring bike route navigation with ForeRunner 955

I went on a road bike ride on ForeRunner 955 with navigation. I'm not convinced as I drew my route on Strava Route Builder, which was then directly exported to Garmin Connect and sent to my device (very nice). However, during the ride, I often received too frequent Turn-By-Turn (TBT) prompts, especially on sharp turns during uphill sections. Occasionally, I didn't receive any TBT alerts. Sometimes, I had to stop completely at a turn to wait for the TBT to sound, as it was delayed. Ideally, I would expect:

1) to be able to view TBT instructions on Garmin Connect and have the ability to add and delete them myself. Is there a third-party service that allows this?

2) Since the map drains battery and obstructs the view of other data, there should be a data field like on Google Maps or Waze, next to "Distance to next turn," displaying the direction arrow of the turn to anticipate, and even the road name. Natively, it doesn't seem possible. I explored Connect IQ but couldn't find this data field either.

As it is, the navigation wore me out, even though I was in the countryside and looking forward to reaching a familiar part of the route. Whereas I have navigated extensively in Paris using Google Maps on my smartphone mounted on the handlebars, which was very smooth.
