Training Status no longer using sync'd activities for Exercise Load.

In the last month, my watch stopped using sync'd activities in its Load calculations. This used to work, so I assume it's a something with the latest firmware. I exported the data from the last run that worked (back from November) and compared it to a run yesterday and things seem to match. HR and pace are all there.

I tried exporting a run, deleting the Activity on my watch, then re-importing it. I thought maybe it would kick off the process that analyzes the data but no luck. Kind of a bummer since I use Connect as my 'source of truth' for training and now the Load is completely off. I'm using data from a Peloton Tread and SyncMyWorkout to bring it over.

Anyone else run into this? I have a support ticket started, so I'll update here if I get a fix.

  • it won't ever calculate load now without dual recording. Unless SMW changes the upload device to a tacx trainer, but then in that case I'm not sure if the load is calculated correctly bc I think it might be using your cycling values for the calculation - would have to test this to confirm. I prefer to dual record anyways because then I get my running dynamics stats.

  • It's nice to have the running dynamics. Even 'fixing' my .fit file with the manufacturer only gets it to add Exercise Load. Training Load is missing so it's not great and I'm not confident in the data (especially using a bike trainer as the manufacturer id). I'm using the Garmin as my health ecosystem, so it makes sense to let it record the data when I run.

    Thanks for the followup.
