I am still on SW 13.23, shall I update or wait?

Hi Guys,

As title goes, I have read loads of threads and the bugs being reported vs people being happy with the latest SW update. I am still on 13.23 and thankfully battery health, Vo2, etc are fine apart from RHR which Apple Watch measured slightly lower than Garmin i.e. RHR was for example 40 on Apple Watch, it would have been 43 or 44 on Garmin. Apart from that so far so good but I started to wonder if I am missing anything substantial by not updating but at the same time do not want to regret.

I guess different folks have different experiences with their watch but just wanted to get some ideas.

Thanks in advance!

  • Wow thats so long ago (approx late 2022 it seems )  I had to look to see what the changes were....

    This site is quite useful

I think it depends what activities you are using . I had 955 (now have 965) and I have been running 17.26 with no real issues. I don't ski so that bug doesn't impact me, have the odd strange things now and then that pop up , but i doubt those would be any better with the old version.

I would upgrade , but I run the betas also and am prepared to take the little pains for the sake of additional features as they arrive.

  • While Garmin will fix one thing and screw something else up, I'd still recommend keeping the firmware up to date, because even if it takes a long time, the bugs tend to get fixed gradually. See e.g. Autodetect lactate threshold and many others. But the decision is up to everyone.

  • Tahnk you so much for the URL and the input! Much appreciate it! I only run and some occasional soccer, weight lifting etc but running is the primary sport and makes sense! Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for the input!!! I will take the bite and upgrade this evening. Thank you!
