Alpine Ski App broken: total descent wrong, distance wrong, auto stop non functional

last year in the first 955 skiing season (northern hemisphere) the watch counted the uphill in lifts into the runs, making the data totally unusable. This was fixed in April or May 2023. Now in the watch’s second season the skiing app is still broken:

- Total Distance still includes runs and uphill in lifts. Hint: goung up in a chair lift is not a sport!

- Total descent number is just wrong when compared to the sum

of all the runs (see screenshot attached). How does that even happen?

- each uphill in a lift is counted by the watch as a „run“, actual runs and uphill lifts are only recognized in garmin connect after upload

- turning auto-pause on or off does not work at all. Random auto-pause included

I find this utterly strange, as if no-one at Garmin tests their own software. The 935 used by my son still works flawlessly. Since Garmin will take at least another 5 months to fix that (if at all), we can only home for next years season.

best, tole

  • You need to send this to the customer support. Include a link of this post as well. They will retrieve some data from your watch and open a sw ticket for it. Then they might fix it in half a year. Barely any attention is payed tot his forum. Thanks for pinting out this problem.

  • Hi, I have the same issue. Observed today on my 955 Solar. Total distance doesn't match when individual runs are summed up. The same goes for total descent.

Would be nice if Garmin could fix this.

  • Same exact thing here, adding my plus one. Clearly adding the lifts as runs, but somehow has the correct descent on the per run page breakdown.

  • I've been having exactly the same issue! Kind of frustrating...

  • Hello, I have the same problem on epix2 pro :(

  • Was googling this after experiencing it twice.  This seems to be a new bug as I had no issues last season.  Oddly, the total descent on the watch before ending matches what's shown in Garmin connect Mobile (which is different than the sum of each run) but when you view the activity on Garmin connect through a web browser, the total descent matches the total shown under runs.

I monitored the watch the second day and the first few runs seemed to be added properly. However by the end of the day my 23,000ft of runs was being reported as 37,000ft Rolling eyes
