17.62 version update...

I think it's clear at this point that Garmin have accepted there are multiple issues with the new update. I'm sending my 955 back (under warranty) for a replacement (I understand it'll still likely happen on a new device).

My issue's were a frozen screen approx 3-4 times a day after receiving notifications and extremely poor battery life, losing over half my charge over the course of a day.

Is anyone aware of a fix coming soon otherwise it's enough for me (and appears some others) to start losing confidence in Garmin and to look elsewhere.

  • Sorry to hear of your problems.

I know it does not help you, but just wanted to let you know, that your problems are not a general bug of 17.26, there must be some special circumstances.
I have 17.26 on my FR 955 and I have NO UI lagging, NO screen freezes and NO battery drain.

Good luck your replacement also won't be affected.

  • Hi, thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately I think you're wrong. There are a number of posts from Garmin responding to concerned customers where they are accepting there is an issue. Also, whilst I appreciate your device might be working fine, the sheer number of posts here complaining of problems obviously indicates there is a major bug in the update. As they all also all relate to the same 2 issues, freezing and battery. But I'm glad you're one of the luck ones!

  • I agree, zero issues here, maybe is a problem of the user, not of the device...

  • I have also had no problems like that with any of the betas or the current 17.26 release. Mine was bought on the week of its first being on sale. Maybe it is possible that a more recent batch of watches has had problems with the new software?

  • What a bizarre reply. I literally said Garmin have acknowledged an issue. I can only explain my experience, I can't help you understand it. Sorry you're having difficulty.

  • And my suggestion is that the less third party apps/faces, the more stable the watch is. But all is just guessing from me, I acknowledge the fact people seem to have serious issues.

  • Same thoughts here... sent mine back a few days ago and hope for a bootable replacement (after freezing several times, it wouldn't boot anymore under any condition). In the future I will try to avoid Spotify, hoping this might be the issue. Ihad severe problems when automatic download started. That might still be more correlation than causation but it's the only idea I have left

  • Only one having difficulty seems to be you using correctly your device. Have you read the instructions manual?

  • Whats wrong with you? If your device behaves differently doesn't mean it has to happen to everyone, you probably don't know anything about software development and you probably shouldn't be commenting anything on this topic.

  • It's the opposite: if his device behaves differently from 99.9% of other devices maybe it's his fault
