FR955 Freezing Every morning since updates

I thought it had stopped this morning as I survived my morning alarm but for the past two weeks (since the updates started) the watch freezes generally when the alarm goes off on my phone, when the morning report happens or, this morning, just for the heck of it. I can't see a pattern except after a morning reboot everything seems to work okay. Unfortunately this isn't just a nuisance. Each reboot seems to chunk the battery by about 5-10% so way more recharges now than pre-updates.

Is there a hotfix coming to fix this or am I the only one?

  • I am having the same problem. Came here to see if there was a solution or a way to roll back.

  • same here, had mine sent in thorugh my retailer. hope for a fast replacement even though it's christmas... very annoying! hoping to at least be a be able to load future updates with a bootable watch. really big hit on my confidence using garmin... let's hope there's no updates before a race... :/

  • I have the same problem here since the update. I’ve worn a garmin for just about every day for the last ten years and the stability of previous updates has been fine. Garmin just works most of the time which is why I have stuck with them. This update forces me to hard reset my watch every morning. I would have expected a fix much more quickly than this.

  • All,

I am very sorry for this disruption. We are aware of and are tracking a few other reports regarding  the device freezing during use. If your device is also experiencing this, please reach out to your local Garmin Product Support center for further assistance.

  • Just as an update, my issue was resolved. Not sure how long it took, between 1 and 2 weeks after I made the comment.  Mine would freeze on the morning report each morning and there was nothing I could do other than hard reset. Not sure how it was fixed, I don’t recall seeing any update but it is possible the put one in while I was sleeping.

  • I should have mentioned here the freezes just stopped one day after about 4 weeks. I don't think I have any third party apps but maybe I do and they finally fixed their issue? No idea. Never say a hotfix come out but something must have happened in the background for it to stop. Reliability is the best ability a watch can have. Test better before the next patch please!

  • Very frustrated with this watch, it is my fourth Garmin and I bought it because I had never had any problems, but now I am going to have to wear my 245 because my 955 Solar does not allow me to keep track of my workouts.

Some nights the heart sensor works, although there are always gaps, most nights it does not make any measurements. The same thing happens during the day, and even with Garmin Express I can't get it to work again. Looking for what could be happening, I notice that sometimes the sensor stops working if I am still, but if I walk for a while it activates again. The green light is flashing, but I don't have any reading of my pulse, nor does it count steps. When it stops working I always see "sensor hub 0.0.1"; sometimes it also shows "BMX: 0.0.0 (!)" and "WHR 0.0.0" and at that time I can see on the solar charge monitor a message saying that "the battery is too hot" although the clock in no moment is hot.

I see that it is a common problem, I suppose it is related to the SW, so it should be a priority for Garmin to provide an answer to its customers. When I bought the watch (October) it worked perfectly, but now it's like having something useless on my wrist, and we're talking about a supposedly premium watch. If Garmin Spain changes my watch for another one (at the moment they have only told me to reset the watch to the factory state, something that does not work) I might still consider not opening the box and selling it, because I am afraid that in a short time it will return to having the same problems without a solution; I am very disappointed with the purchase.

I understand that Garmin is looking for a solution, but the months go by and I cannot give it the use for which I bought this watch.

Sorry for such a long text and for the tone, but I am angry and very frustrated.
