What means exactly ...

Shows images in phone notifications (Android only).

I have an Android phone, my son sends me a photo of himself with WhatsApp and should I see the photo on the forerunner 955? I'm at 5.24pm but I don't see it. As always I see only a small image from a camera. Can anyone help me understand this? Thank you

For some reason, Whatsapp images and much more platforms are not shown. So far it has been confirmed, that images work from Viber (I confirm) and Ring (Video Doorbells and Security Cameras).

It is claimed to be investigated currently.

It doesn't let me see any photos either and I have an Android phone, I also only get the camera emoticon.

Just received an image from whatsapp, I can see it on the watch.
