17.24 nap detection working very bad

Installed this morning at 6am the new software.

It detected a nap from 7:37am to 8:24am when I was sitting in my car scrolling the phone before starting work!

Don't want nap detection, how can I disable it?

  • How can Garmin could understand if you are sleeping or you are laying in bed with open eyes?

  • How can Garmin could understand if you are sleeping or you are laying in bed with open eyes?

If garmin can't make it work then they should not advertise with a sleep/nap tracking feature.

    Quite simple, isn't it?

  • I do wonder this myself.

I had three short naps at the weekend, and once just lying down. All identified correctly.

  • Same here, when working at my desk, the system detects a nap and overwrites my sleep data from the previous night !

If it does not behave as expected, I'd also like to be able to deactivate it, otherwise training readiness is affected.

  • Sleep tracking works quite well for me, but this nap thing is terrible.  It keeps saying I had a nap when I was reading, or watching TV.

We need a way  to turn this off!

  • Yeah, there needs to be a way to turn this off. I just updated and I know this is going to get triggered while I'm sitting at my desk.

  • I'm not one to take naps on a daily basis, but the few times I did after the upgrade, they registered correctly. Even the first one, since I didn't know if it was automatic or not, I started it manually. Both ways it worked fine for me. Also the Sleep Tracking at night works like a charm as I expected.

  • I NEVER take naps! Two days ago my 955 recorded two nap sessions totalling 1 hour 22 minutes when I was just sitting or watching the TV. Today I have 12 minutes when I was having my lunch. I'm not an athlete, just a reasonably fit 70 year old who walks quite a bit and cycles 4000 miles a year. If it was being recorded acurately, which it is not, what is the benefit of recording naps? Can I switch this "feature" off and if I can, what is the effect of doing that on my overall Garmin Connect data?

  • Maybe now you can recognize that you fall asleep watching TV? Just kidding :)

  • From what I saw what you can do is to remove the Glance that shows you that information. I understand that this will not stop it from saving that information, but so far I have not been able to find the information related to Naps in GC. It is not important to me either.
