17.24 nap detection working very bad

Installed this morning at 6am the new software.

It detected a nap from 7:37am to 8:24am when I was sitting in my car scrolling the phone before starting work!

Don't want nap detection, how can I disable it?

  • I did a 20 minute nap today after lunch, but the watch didn´t recognize it.

  • Oh, very good. Your real nap wasn't recorded, my fake nap was Slight smile

    Good job, Garmin!

  • have to say it seems to be working fantastically for me. no false naps, and getting the ones I have

  • Sleep tracking already doesn’t work very well. What did you expect from nap tracking?

Last week, my 965 detected sleep from 20:30 til the next morning while I was in a restaurant having diner that evening. Do have to say, the time I drove home was marked as awake.

    I just ignore it.

  • Sleep track on mine works absolutely fine since day one

  • Last week my sleeptracking said twice  I went to sleep at 20:30, while one evening I was on the couch watching tv and the other evening I was in a restaurant having dinner. (that last time, sleeptracking did report I was awake when I drove to home at 22:00)

And then I don't even look at the random numbers for sleepfases and sleepscore.

For me, it's absolutely rubbish. Might be I have a rather low resting heart rate. But that is to be expected by people with a sport watch, I guess.

  • What have you set your usual sleep times to be?

  • 22:00 to 6:30

My alarm clock goes at 6:30 but usually I’m awake before 6:30 and wait, clearly awake, until my alarm goes off and then step out of bed. Sleeptracking never ever notice I’m awake before 6:30 and always says I wakeup at 6:30.

Also, sleeptracking never notice I’m awake in the middle of the night. Those wake times, lasting 30 minutes or longer could be reported as light sleep, deep sleep or rem sleep.

It’s not a big problem. I just ignore sleeptracking and everything that is based on sleeptracking, like body battery and training readiness. I know my body good enough and know enough about training and recovery to do a better job.

I do find garmin wastes resources by added nap detection while they better be fixing the many bugs in the firmware. And I suspect nap detection interferes with the move alert, because that doesn’t work anymore in the firmware for me.

And moves alerts are way more important than nap recording.

  • For me sleep tracking is perfect. Here an example, i woke up at 4:09 to pee...

  • Great for you. But that doesn't make mine any better, or is it?

Here I'm watching Jessica Jones, while garmin thinks I'm in deep sleep, from 20:30. I woke up at 6:30 ish, and quietly waited for my gf to wake up. Which garmin thinks is light sleep. Completely rubbish.

I just wish I count disable sleep tracking and especially nap tracking. I think nap tracking interferes with move alerts. I value move alert a lot more than nap tracking.
