nightly hrv with hrm strap

Hi there

I have a garmin FR955 and im wondering if it is possible to use the garmin hrm pro to measure the nightly hrv. Since march this year my hrv values dropped from 50ms- 70ms to 30ms. i tried everything inclusing incease resting, Im working  and we made adaptions to my training program but now  i just want to test if the optical hr is still working fine by using an hrm strap.

Is this even possible?

Dennis

  • Is this even possible?

    I don't think so.

HRM Pro (+) can record timed activities when leaving the watch behind, but that is not what you want.

It can also record steps and Heartrate, while wearing it (and leaving the watch behind), without starting an activiy. That will be syncronized back and used for body battery, as far as I know (never really tested it).

But I doubt, it will record HRV data and use it for sleep analysis. Anyway, to do this, you would have to turn of the optical sensor during that time, otherwise you would have two recordings for the same time and I guess, then the optical sensor will be used.

If you already own a HRM Pro, maybe just try it and post the results here?

  • Hello, you can make a "Health Snapshot" to test your HRV during 2 min with the Garmin HRM pro. It will connect automatically.

Then, in the garmin Connect application, you can see the difference between the value of the watch and the value of the Garmin HRM pro.

I tested it and it was very close for me (56 and 59 ms)
