Map region options confusion

I have Topo maps Europe 2023.10 installed according to Garmin Express.

When I look at the Map Settings / Configure Maps options on the watch I see:

  • Worldwide DEM Basemap,NR
  • Time Zone Map
  • CourseView Medium SE Pacific
  • CourseView Medium SE Europe, Middle East & Africa
  • CourseView Medium SE Americas
  • Garmin DEM Map EU2023.10
  • SkiView 2023.20
  • TopoActive Europe 2023.10, East
  • TopoActive Europe 2023.10, Central

All are enabled except the CourseView (golf) maps. I'm in the UK. Why don't I see a TopoActive Europe West option? I thought the Europe maps were split into 3.

    I normally manage maps via GC laptop. On that yes Europe is in 3 parts

    I tried reinstalling the Europe map using Garmin Express. I now see the Topo Europe West map too. Curiously though the "DEM map EU2023.10" has disappeared. No idea whether it matters...

    At some stage I deleted all the maps from my device drive (via computer not the watch, by accessing the device drive itself) and then installed the maps I needed again. No idea whet DEM.... map is.

    DEM = Digital Elevation Model. It's how the watch calculates slopes when you ask it to generate a route.

    I think there's a bug (or at least an anomaly with my particular watch).

    I tried removing and reinstalling various maps but there's always one random one missing from the "Configure Maps" menu list. Now I can see the DEM EU map back but the ski maps are missing. 

    To confirm if it's a bug or just my watch, could someone please try the following:

    1) Press and hold up (middle left) button.

    2) Scroll down and select "Activities and Apps"

    3) Select "Run" (or any other activity_

    4) Select "Run settings"

    5) Select "Map"

    6) Select "Configure Maps"

    7) See there what options you have. In Europe I think you should see 10 maps listed by default:

    • Worldwide DEM Basemap,NR
    • Time Zone Map
    • CourseView Medium SE Pacific
    • CourseView Medium SE Europe, Middle East & Africa
    • CourseView Medium SE Americas
    • Garmin DEM Map EU2023.10
    • SkiView 2023.20
    • TopoActive Europe 2023.10, East
    • TopoActive Europe 2023.10, Central
    • TopoActive Europe 2023.10, West

    However in my case I only see 9. All the maps are actually there though as I can see 10 .img files using PC file explorer and all the right maps are in the map manager. The problem is just with map configuration for the various activities.

    I think the bug is that the activity "Configure Maps" menu option always shows 1 fewer maps than there actually are. It seems to be fairly random as to which one is missing.

    It probably accounts for various previous bug reports some of them dating back a year or more:

    I'm currently using F/W 16.17. I assume it's still there in 17.xx
