Map sync failed?

I'm trying to download Topoactive maps in my Garmin 955 and it just doesn't work. It goes to 9% and then says "Map sync failed"

Tried restarting the device, deleting maps, etc etc and nothing works

I saw a lot of threads about this and they are all locked but without a fix, has anyone been able to fix this issue?

It seems the only reliable way to update maps is to connect the watch to a computer and use Garmin Express to do the maps update.
