How to update sensors (cadence, speed) from FR955

When I primarily used the Edge for my cycling activities, every so often I would get a notification that I had a sensor firmware update (cadence, speed). I have been mainly using the FR955 with the sensors for a while now, but I have never received a sensor update notification. I also tried looking in the sensor properties and it doesn't mention anything about updating them or checking update from the FR955.

Is there any method to check it from the FR955 or see what is the latest version available for each sensor?

Thank you very much!

  • Look into the log of an activity (on an app or the web). Near the bottom will be a list of sensors used and their software versions.

  • For example, in the Android app, in the log for today's run:

  • Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. Yes, this I know, in fact I see Software version 4.1 for the speed sensor and 2.5 for the Dual HRM. But for example the cadence sensor is never listed in my cycling activities and the sensor works correctly sending the data for each activity.
Also while I can see in several ways what firmware version they currently have none of them tell me something like "check for update". That's why I was wondering if there was some place to check what is the latest firmware version of each Garmin device or sensor, like a list or something like that.

  • If they're Garmin brand sensors, the watch should offer to update automatically.

As far as I can tell from a search, 2.50 is current for an HRM Dual (even though it's over two years old).

I also have the Tempe. The firmware is probably so simple (broadcast the temperature over ANT+ once per minute, every minute) that it doesn't show up in workout summaries and probably has no means of receiving updates.

  • Thanks, Yes, I assume the same, this is why I opened this thread to see if I would get any accurate answers on this.

Yes, no update since then, I also own it.

Update for (Garmin) Sensors will be triggered by the watch, when available and connected via ANT+

    Yes.
