Cannot download Spotify app on my forerunner 955 (version 15.19)

Hello,

Today I received my forerunner 955 and I want to download the spotify app as I have on my Venu 2. But when I do this in the connect IQ store, then I receivge the following message: This app requires an update of your Forerunner 955. Please use Garmin Express to update your Forerunner 955.

I used garmin express to look for updates but there is no update. I restarted the watch but still no difference.

Can somebody help me with this issue?

  • I checked the Connect IQ SDK, and for any app that was built recently, the minimum 955 firmware version is 16.16. Since the Spotify CIQ app was just updated yesterday, it very likely falls under this requirement.

Based on the stickied post at the top of this forum, the latest non-beta firmware version is 16.17, so everyone should have this version or higher, if they're receiving updates. (Unlike some other Garmin devices, there isn't separate firmware for the Asia/Pacific region.)

Have you tried checking for updates on the watch itself?

    - Setup wi-fi and connect to wi-fi network. (Probably not necessary, but updates will download much faster)

    - From the watchface, hold UP for settings and navigate to System > Software Updates > Check For Updates

  • Hello Flowstate,

I have updatet the watch to 16.17 and everything is working now. Thanx for your feedback. Greetings Sander
