Strength repetitions not remembering weight set on watch from 1st rep FW 16.17 still no update :(

See for example this post forums.garmin.com/.../strength-repetitions-not-remembering-weight-set-on-watch-from-1st-rep - discussion has been locked, but it still doesn't work and it is annoying. Garmin please fix it. I DO use my forerunner even when lifting weights surprisingly ;)

  • I played with the strength app a bunch just now. It seems to remember the weight only under certain conditions. For example, if I edit the "Maximize Your Upper Body" workout by adding a weight of 20 pounds for the Renegade Row it defaults to 20 pounds during the actual activity. In other words, if I program the workout to do 10 reps at 20 pounds then the weight defaults to 20 pounds when I have a chance to edit the set just after the reps are complete. I can still change the weight up or down if I desire.

On the other hand, if I don't have any default weight for a particular exercise defined in the workout it defaults to 0.0 pounds and doesn't remember the previous set weight. However, that's probably by design. It thinks my weight is supposed to be 0 pounds because that's what is programmed into the workout.

If I go into a "Free" workout then it does remember the last weight. For example, if I select "Free" and do 10 reps of Renegade Rows and hit lap, it allows me to edit the weight to 20 pounds. If I then do another set then it remembers my last weight was 20 pounds and defaults to that weight.

So it looks like there isn't really a bug here. I would prefer the logic state that a default of 0 actually means that the user wants to define the weight at the first set and then keep it the same for each additional set of the same exercise. However, I can see how the logic works now and I'm happy with the results.

  • Hi

Seeing similar.  In regards to your last paragraph, that is how this used to work 3 firmwares ago.  Therefore this is a bug/regression and if the user has not set a weight in the workout, the watch should remember the last weight entered after completing a set.

  • This seems to finally be fixed in beta FW 18.12 . . . a structured workout with no weight set now remembers the weight from the last sets weight.
