955 + zwift smart trainer.

When I connect 955 with zwift smart trainer. And want to choose a workout from the watch or just go for free ride my heart rates just drops down to 0 and is not working at all. But as soon as I disconect from the smart trainer it works again. I can still be connected to the power and Cadence meters. But not the Smart trainer.  Anyone know how I can fix this so I can measure my HR while indoorbiking with my smart trainer?

  • While I've never tried workouts from the watch while on the trainer, I regularly connect to my trainer for power and cadence while typically using a HRM strap. On rare occasions, I have used the optical HR. Either way, I've never had any issues.

How are you connecting to your trainer? ANT+ or Bluetooth? I connect my watch via ANT+ to trainer power and cadence. Trainer connects via Bluetooth to AppleTV (Zwift).

  • What Smart trainer are you using? (Notice that not all smart trainers work with Ant+ HRMs only Bluetooth.

Secondly make sure that the Activity Type you use on your watch together with Zwift must have HR enabled.

I myself does not use my 955 when riding on Zwift as I have a an external HRM that uses bluetooth which is connected directly to Zwift together with my Bike and/or treadmill.

  • Hello.

Have you found out solution for this problem? I've got FR255 and got the same problem.

  • "Zwift smart trainer" means you are using the Zwift Hub (one)?  I understand that the zwift hub does bridge / forward the heartrate and it seems that it ALWAYS does that and the 955 will use this transmitted heartrate even if its 0.

For me it works like this: I have bonded my 955 to the Hub as heartrate monitor (using compagnion app) and have setup the indoor-cycling on the 955 to transmit the heartrate.

So the HR goes from the 955 to the Hub and then back to the 955.  Sounds strange but its working for me...

  • Thank you very much. It works :)

  • Are you getting correct HR values?

I've observed (I don't remember which profile, probably for indor cycling, but this is also valid without any activity) that HR is incorrect for higher HR values - ie I'm @ 160bpm (according to strap readings), but FR shows like 70-100, after swinging hand a few times readings are correct

  • I did not really compare values to a cheststrap as I only have a very old one and hardly use it.

But the 955 HR values seem plausible during running and biking.  I don't usually look at HR values for other activities..

  • running for sure is fine, I'm not 100% sure about bike (I use Edge+Strap), but on trainer it fails - I wonder if others are having similar problems

  • Well biking + trainier seems fine to me..
