Forerunner 955 keeps trying to update

Hi all!

I’ve had my 955 for about exactly a year. A week ago it went through an update. Then another. Then another. I finally realized something wasn’t right. Now about once or twice a day it will try to update and always tries every time I take it off my wrist. I have plugged into my computer and the program says the watch is up to date. I have done a factory reset on the watch, everything I can think of. Still keeps happening. This is on software 16.17. 

Any ideas?

    Same problems here! Almost 5 months that I'm facing this problems, I can say for sure that I'm almost done of trying to repair this. Probably they released a software update that occasionate a problem in the hardware and I think they'll never fix this for us. The only certain that I have is that I'll never buy garmin watches again, I loved the brand but their support is a joke.

    for me, the problem comes and goes. For the last two updates (18.22 and 18.23) the watch repeated the update several times for 1-3 days and then it was over. The Garmin guy even contacted me (thanks a lot!) but it was already too late - nothing to report. It's a really weird behavior.

    I have been experiencing this issue for several months now. I have had two exchanges so far, and both of the new watches (all forerunner 955), have had this issue within a few weeks or days of use. The newsest exchange started doing it once I connected the watch to wifi, three days after I activated the watch and was using it through bluetooth. Maybe there is a link there.

    I am prompted 1-3 times a day for 1 minute updates, and sometimes this interrupts tracking ( typically heart rate or sleep data) due to this.

    Since I have had issues with all 3 watches and I didnt have an issue for about a year on my first watch, I suspect there is a software or firmware issue that was introduced at some point.

    Either way, I hope there is a way to block the updates altogether, or exchange for a different model at this point. Definitely starting to get frustrated.

    i asked for a replacement, and since i received my new watch, i have no issue. i think it is a firmware probleme, then i keep the old one (13.23)

    Swim count is working again, no updates every day, battery is very good, IU is fast, everything works better.

    the solution i think was the possibility to downgrade the firmware

    only issue with old firmware, most of the app not work because they ask for new firmware, but i prefer not install
