auto save function

Is there some way to turn this off, it is not long enough for lunch or a break in hiking  walking or cycling sometimes and the is NO WARNING that the auto save is about to happen, 5 min countdown please?

  • Is this after you've selected "Resume Later"?

  • No, I think the "Resume later", is what the OP is looking for.

  • the is NO WARNING that the auto save is about to happen

Don't you get a 30 second countdown before the activity auto saves? You can extend the timeout before auto save happens by selecting [Activity] Settings > Power Save Timeout > Extended. That should change the timeout from 5 minutes to 30 minutes.

But as jmto said, if you're going to pause your activity for a long period of time, Resume Later (from the pause menu) is the way to do it. The only issue with Resume Later is that most (if not all) Connect IQ data fields which calculate lap or activity data won't restore their previous state after the activity is resumed (not even Garmin's old Running Power field, which ofc isn't necessary anymore.) Probably not an issue for most people.

  • I do not get a warning that the auto save is happening until I here the save going on.  Very annoying if a lunch break takes a few monutes longer than expected when 'officially' I am 'Paused'

ALSO if you guys know some anwers what is this - being asked as if is close to my bed time, then functions will stop if I am a 'resume later'  mode.  I then have to resume again after this message.  Seems unecessary and repetitative.  Do you know how to stop it asking this question??
    Thanks

  • Agree, this is the single worst feature of recent Garmin products.  There are forums going back 4 years asking for this to be turned off and still it persists.
