fr 955 solar - please implement a to-the-second 3s/5s average pace field

To begin with, 5 s steps for the current pace display are already just nothing you could align your pace to properly. That's 3 1/2 minutes over a marathon.
But even with that restriction, the current pace is still ridiculously bad in the 955 solar, even in best conditions (flat road, clear sky, no gps obstacles) it jumps around in a 25 s range. and no, that's not me getting randomly 25s/km slower and faster, I never run that drunk.
For pace control, that's just utterly useless. The one thing you want from your >500 € gps running watch.

I remember previous editions of the forerunner had to-the-second exact 3s or 5s average paces, which were much more applicable. It can't be hard to implement.
Currently, it's just aggravating. 1,000 bs functions, but the one important is rubbish.

  • I realize that native functionality is always preferred, but I have a Connect IQ data field app that may be able to show you some of the things you mentioned. It's called AppBuilder 5, and it's kind of like Excel for your Garmin (it allows you to manipulate basic activity data that's provided to the app via the CIQ API, such as time, distance, speed/pace, cadence and heart rate).

    https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/fd690281-9c22-4fee-a81e-3b7f39aa67c5

In the app settings, you set a field label, a formula which determines the data that's displayed, and a display format (e.g. time or pace). Then you add it to your Run activity like any other data field.

e.g. Display (instant) pace averaged over the last 3 seconds

Label: Pace (3s) (or anything you want)
    Formula: timeavg(speed, 3)
    Display Format: Pace

e.g. Display (instant) pace averaged over the last 5 seconds

Label: Pace (5s) (or anything you want)
    Formula: timeavg(speed, 5)
    Display Format: Pace

Needless to say, nothing is rounded to the nearest 5 seconds.

You can also write this data to the activity FIT file for further analysis after your run.

  • I tested it and it works like a charm. Thank you and much appreciated.

Nonetheless, especially now that I see the watch is capable of it, it's even less understandable why this isn't native.
I am no IT expert, and so I can't evaluate how much somewhat sensible data plugins can use and upload to whomever.

  • Why do you want to use current pace? I do 400m repetition using lap pace and I'm ablle to run at the pace I want.

Even in an half marathon, I use lap pace, that is the mean each km and I'm able to run at a specified pace
