Any renewed chance for Bluetooth FTMS support for indoor equipment like Rogue Echo Bike?

I had just bought an upgraded console for my Rogue Echo Bike, thinking that its new "Bluetooth" compatibility would be pretty be able to connect to my Forerunner 955. Turns out Garmin doesn't support the FTMS protocol on this and supposedly a lot of other Bluetooth enabled exercise equipment. The watch can pair to some degree, and the devices exchange some data, but they don't maintain connection or send too much functional data. It will send initial information like wheel size, but it won't send data over time for distance or power.

I was hoping the new console would be better than the current solution of Garmin's speed and cadence sensors attached to the bike, but for now the only difference is having paid $135 to be able to display a heart rate on the console. Obviously it's my fault for buying equipment without knowing it's compatible, but through Google searches, there's a fair few treadmills, bikes, rowers, etc that use Bluetooth FTMS protocol and there hasn't seemed to be much talk of Garmin potentially supporting it outside of dcrainmaker's Tacx articles from 2018.
