A few FW ago the workout screen supported only 2 fields unlike the 245/745/945.

I think I got it now, thanks. Unfortunately, as you confirmed before and from what I tested today, it's still 2 fields :(
I have no idea if in v16.xx which is in beta this will change.
Thank you so much for checking @Ex-6353943 !
Here are some pictures I took from the dedicated structured workout screen on the Forerunner 745 to help people understand the issue.
On the first pic you see a warmup open interval so the top field is…
Hello, On mine with v15.19 you can create a Data Screen of 3 fields and assign the "Workout Fields" there.
The 3 workout fields, on data fields, are: Step Duration, Step Time and Step Speed.
Obviously you can also create a 6 fields screen, or other, and use these fields plus others.
The workout screen that the x45 series had, offered a more complicated functionality that cannot be reproduced by using the "step" fields on x55. Please read the thread I attached on my original question and you will understand the differences...

Here are some pictures I took from the dedicated structured workout screen on the Forerunner 745 to help people understand the issue.
On the first pic you see a warmup open interval so the top field is time counting up from 0:00 until lap press:
Once you hit the LAP, we enter the next 1 of 10 step which is an on interval also open and again time is on the top field counting up until lap press:
Next we have a recovery open interval which is also counting up:
But here is where it gets very nice on the 745 and all the previous Garmins such as the 235. Next is a distance-target interval and now the top field changes automatically to distance and it now counts *down* from 4.00 miles! Notice how on the bottom right the step distance has been replaced by step time which counts up so that you can see how long you are running in your 4mi interval.
This is a very useful functionality since one can program any combination of an on/off interval on distance/time target/lap press and you never ever have to move to a different screen. One screen is enough for all variations as it automatically switches from counting up to down etc.
Unfortunately the 955 removed that screen and displays only 2 fields. To make things worse, even if one uses the "step" variants for distance / time / pace and create a new "workout" screen, you still cannot replicate the dynamic placement / swap of the fields or proper count up / count down.
Why regress such a good workout functionality?
Garmin-Kevin any update on this removed feature?
Sorry for the delay, just today I able to test it. Sadly no, still on 2 fields
Thank you so much for checking!
Garmin is baffling to me :( I get it that now the 955 has "step" fields which for example the 745 doesn't provide, but unfortunately the information presented on the workout screen of the 745 is so much more useful. It even presents 1/10 reps and a nice gauge to guide you towards the target time or distance.
Why does Garmin keep removing functionality on arguable the main reason people stick with Garmins (workouts / races)?
