HR monitor issues justify a recall at this point

The HR issues on this "premium triathlons watch" have been persisting for something like a half year at this point, none of the SW releases at this point have helped to fix the problem

Considering the price we all paid for this watch I would expect Garmin to do one of three things

Provide a hotfix, it is unbelievable that you have been expecting users all over the world to hangout and wait 6 months for a SW update that works
Enable users to downgrade the version until you release a version without critical bugs such as this
Recall the entire series and figure out the HR issues on your own dime...

Without a reliable HR monitor all the downstream features are useless. I have owned the watch for about a year and must say it is a spectacularly expensive disappointment

What issues are you having? Have you tried swapping it out under warranty?

I haven’t had any HR issues with either the optical sensor or the HRM Pro Plus.

Also no issues with HR. Very happy with the FR 955.

Same here. Optical hr is absolute reliable.

OHR is just extremely sensitive toall kinds of factors... Location on wrist, hair, skin tone, temperature, tightness of strap, etc.

What I currently do is wear it higher up my under arm and that works perfectly during easy runs but also intervals, maybe worth a try.

It's unfortunately a big downside of the (wrist) OHR sensors.

If that was the case I would expect all HR monitors on garmin, suunto and fitbit devices to behave in a similarly poor manner.

That’s frustrating. What makes you think it’s the watch software though seeing as how lots of people don’t have this issue?

I’m not getting any issues with the optical HR

No issues here. Some tips:

Wear it tight. I tighten it one notch when training.
If you're hairy, shave your wrist or arms.
If you're riding, wear a HRM strap. Optical is not reliable due to our hadn't positions on the bike.

My optics also give me weird results during running workouts, which is why I wear a chest strap in 99 percent of my workouts. Because optics is optics and a strap is a strap.

Other metrics like sleep, heart rate variability overnight etc. seem to be fine for me.
