This has been resolved. Anyone reinstalling their map using the steps from Reinstalling TopoActive, CourseView, and Ski Maps to a Compatible Garmin Watch should no longer experience this message.

I fixed this:
1. I removed all map files from the watch - no message anymore.
(To be on the safe side, I recommend not deleting anything, but moving it to your PC. The maps are *.img files in the GARMIN folder. I removed Golf and some other suspicious folders as well.).
2. I re-downloaded the maps again using Garmin Express - and viola, no message. SUCCESS!
I reset the device a couple of times, not sure if that was necessary.
