If i remember correctly you can turn it on and off in the trail run settings menu.

It's the first thing he said, he set it to off.

I've had the same issue all winter. I'm in Montreal so there's a lot of snowfall, so I set the activity to trail when I run on snow.
My VO2 max dropped to 42 over the winter, and now it's back up to 51. All that to say that it's not a new issue, it's always been there as far as I know.
All,
We have a fix for this in our current 16.09 Beta. To download this update on the Forerunner 955 Series devices, go to: Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates
If you prefer not to enroll in the Beta Program, feel free to wait for the official sw release that's coming soon.
I saw an even larger drop recently and have been discussing it in the beta forum.
Did you happen to install beta 16.09? I run primarily on trails and always keep the "Record VO2 Max" option on, but have never seen a drastic drop in score until about the same time as yours. I know your issue is that VO2 is still being recorded when you don't want it to be, but I wonder if it's somehow related my dip.
Hi Garmin-Sierra the fix is for the "off" option really working as "off" or the fix is for the "on" option calculating a corrected VO2max?
Miky, the fix would prevent VO2 max from being recorded for Trail Runs, if the setting is turned "Off".
