Auto FTP detection is still Not working at FR955

Hi there,

I have a FR 955 with FW 15.19 but unfortunately the Auto-Update of the FTP is still not working… Meanwhile it is quite frustrating (want back my 935…).

can anyone help?

And just in case any debugging sessions are necessary:

Do you still have this problem?

There is a Garmin support article which explains the conditions under which the detector generates a new FTP:

As it is working for me, did you turn it on in the settings and do you use a HRM?

Yes, both…

I can see it on the watch, to be turned on, not only in Garmin connect.

I use the HRM-pro…

It also works for me. Did you do a LTHR testrun? That is the only thing I can think of to some sort of "activate" the auto-update

No but running works, I have problems with the cycling FTP…

for cycling you can also select ftp test on the watch

Is it working on the watch itself? For me it gives regular updates on FTP and running threshold, but is does not sync them to Garmin connect. This is a known bug with 15.19. And I don't have to select an FTP Test.

I also use the HRM Pro.

My watch auto-detected a new LTHR this morning so I decided to try something that someone else on the forum had suggested - syncing directly from the watch over wifi.

I didn't have my phone with me on my run so after accepting the new LTHR and saving the run I powered off the watch and walked home. When I got home I powered off my phone and then turned my watch back on. I then went into the watch settings and forced a sync over wifi. I logged in Garmin Connect on my laptop and confirmed that the new LTHR had synced properly to Connect. It actually worked!

It seems as though the bug may be occurring when you try to sync a run from your watch to Connect on your phone over Bluetooth. Try this next time you get a new LTHR.

I ran w/the strap today and again w/out any issues, got a LTHR update. I have had zero problems w/this since 15.19. As for transfer to Connect, I'm not sure how mine is uploading. I don't run w/my phone. I do have WIFI configured. I save after my run and it's another 5-10min walk/ride before I get home, I'm not sure which one connects first. I guess I could disable one next time and then swap the time after to see if anything breaks, i.e., it won't transfer over one or the other.
