Garmin Wallet

For the last 6 months - the Garmin Wallet has worked fine. Unfortunately, whilst at a supermarket checkout today, it suddenly went into sync mode ... and it's been struck there ever since. My question is - is the Garmin Wallet untrustworthy? and secondly, how do I fix it?

  • I had one since July and experienced the sync problem twice already. Had to restart the watch to resolve it. Since then, have been restarting the watch once a week, haven't not encounter the problem so far.

  • What is garmin doing about this? I’ve had this problem for more than a month now.

  • For me it happens after updates.

  • Happened to me once (not after update), restarting the watch helped.

  • Oops. Happen again. Looks like weekly watch restart doesn't really prevent the issue. Restarting the watch do clear the syncing problem immediately but is impractical or inconvenient to do when paying.

  • Happened again, twice in a few days. Let's see whether the latest update, 16.17, will resolve the issue.

  • Happen again :(... so the problem persist with the latest update :(

  • Yup, worst part is Garmin haven't even bothered to acknowledge the support request.

As a temporary work around you can reset and delete everything on your device and then relink and reconfigure from scratch - that gives you a couple days usage before the bugs return

  • I have exactly the same symptoms. A man stands at the cash register to pay using his watch, and at that moment the watch freezes on wallet sync. Switching the watch off and on fixes the issue, but why does it happen?

For me it typically occurs when I am on my run. I pause the activity to resume later, and open Garmin Pay to buy something. Then it wants to sync the wallet.

I don't dare to restart the watch in the middle of an activity, so then I can't use Garmin Pay during my run.

This is why Garmin Pay service is totally unreliable for me.

I wanted to point out that this seems to be a problem with new series of Garmin watches, because previously, when I used Garmin Pay on Forerunner 945, I never had this type of problem.

What does it mean that the watch is syncing wallet? What is it trying to do, and how?

  •  It occurs infrequently but usually when i need it. I gave up trying to fix it and stop relying on it for payment. Anyway, i bought the watch to run, not pay, so can't complain too much Disappointed
