How do I delete the current LTHR?

In June last year I set a manual LTHR. I have not had an update since then. I received a new watch yesterday due to soft buttons missing presses, and during the setup, I got a message on the screen saying something like "LTHR manually set to 147bpm" as it did the initial sync from GC. I fear this will again over ride any auto detection. Is it possible to delete this manual input?! I can only set another level in the app. I want it removed, and the watch to be forced to detect the level. If this isn't possible in the UI, can garmin support delete it?

  • Following because I have the same question

  • Update to the latest firmware, 15.19 and then go do either the guided LTHR test or a workout hard enough to trigger the auto detection. Remember to wear a HR strap.

  • Thanks, but that's not the question... I am on the latest firmware, and have run activities where i would expect the LTHR to update. I need to delete the manual entry.

  • I never found a way to delete the LTHR. Mine was stuck for over year on the 955 w/the value that transferred over from my 935. Once I updated to 15.19, it started working again and has updated twice since 15.19.

  • Interesting.. Thanks. Let's hope I get the same experience!

  • - You wouldn't be able to delete it, but you could go into your User Profile from the app (Garmin Devices > FR 955 > User Profile > Heart Rate & Power Zones > Heart Rate > LTHR) and manually change it again. If I remember correctly from our conversation in the past, your max HR was in the 180s, correct? I don't see why this manually-set 174bpm from the past would interfere with getting a new reading.

Before you'd manually change your LTHR, I'd actually suggest that you change your heart rate zones to be based on a % of Lactate Threshold, complete a Guided Lactate Threshold Test, and make no further changes to your heart rate zones. Make sure you have a chest strap paired to your device as well (it's required). Then you can test out more running activities over the next few weeks and see if you get an auto-detected LTH reading. Keep in mind that you will need to be running in all 5 heart rate zones for auto detect to work.
