Any thoughts if Hill Score and Endurance Score will come to FR955?

Do you think that Garmin will bring the Hill Score and the Endurance Score to FR955? It should probably arrive on 965 because it is a "newish" watch...by latest Garmin release pace:)

I would appreciate it in my hilly area.

  • Endurace store would be nice. Finaly something that looks simple and usefull that combine bike+run+swim.

  • yes I think both will arrive on the 955

  • DCrainmaker said that Garmin hasn't releases yet the complete liste of watches that'll get these metrics (apart from the regular F7), but it should be annonced soon.

I personnaly think the 955 will get them. It's a triathlon focused watch so would benefit from the Endurance score.

And the 935/945 had 99% of the features of the F5+ and F6, except for some outdoor things (so maybe the Hill Score won't be implemented?).

  • I agree, but the problem is that FR955 is not the newest anymore in the Forerunner series so it could end up left behind considering those functionalities (+ pay premium for extra features), although it is almost the same like FR965, features and hardware wise (except the screen).

So many watches out there now for Garmin teams to keep up with and maintain...inflation in this field too recently.

  • Yes, I would argue that the 955 is still very new, in fact it's newer than the Fenix 7. Features that the 955 launched with were actually backported to the F7 at a later date. Both endurance and hill scores would be useful to 955 owners, I don't think either of these are dependent on newer hardware. Same for the hill-shaded maps, improved data field layouts, improved weather.. all software features.

However, I wish they would just fix bugs first before implementing yet more features Slight smile

  • In my own POV, Garmin seems to run out of ideas:) I will personally never use these 2 metrics, even if they release them to the 955. All watches released starting with 935 are more than enough for 99% of the users here (some would argue even 920xt partially supports Stryd).

  • I am more interested in the new sport profiles, especially Footbal and Inline skating. I hope these will be ported to 955.

  • it will be very interesting to see how Garmin handles this. i still bemoan the fact that the solar glance on the 955 is crippled relative to the other watches which show a numeric solar insolation.

i would guess that they will include endurance at least on the 955. that's of less interest to me than the map overlay with data around the edge or the split screen view which would be fantastic for hiking/backpacking, but i'm less sure they will give to us 955 users.

  • Would be kind of nice, as even I'm thinking to switch camp, I don't think the tick, tock release cycle is where one wants to change in the second release and then miss out possible on the Fenix 8 features. So probably need to wait a year or so, to see the Fenix 8 vs. 975 offering and then decide which is it.

  • I didn't like the Fenix yearly release cycle, in that sense Forerunner was better, but if we are also getting yearly releases, then the points having Forerunner vs. Fenix seems to be diminishing a lot.
