Altimeter inaccuracy

Hi,

I have software version 15.19.

Lately i've noticed problems with altimeter/elevation. It gives too much elevation gain/loss during activity and in meantime too. Most of the days watch tells me before lunch that ive climbed 10 floors already. I've tried to calibrate the sensor and clean the watch with no results.

SETTINGS: Sensor mode - AUTO, auto cal. - ON.

Does anyone else noticed similar issues?

  • I had exactly the same issues, tried everything that is already suggested here, but in the end I had to exchange my FR955 because the barometric sensor was faulty/broken. This seems to happen quite often from what I have been reading here in the forums.

  • Is there any other way to check the revision?
I bought rev A, than my watch went on warranty replacement. I got a new one, but not the whole package in new box. Just the watch itself in bubble wrap, without a box, straps and so one. :/
Altimeter still is a sad joke.

  • it is unbelieveble im on same problem as i was with forerunner 745. More then a year ago i was lucky to downgrade firmware and sensor hub also! (who is intrested - https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/forerunner-745/f/discussion/312954/sudden-drop-or-increase-in-altitude-during-activity )

Changes in temperature will show in altimeter changing. Here is a simple test. Start activity like running, watch data with altitude and place watch in open fridge. As temperature drops quickly, altitude rise quickly, 1-2 minutes is enought.

Same trouble here with another forerunner, 955 now. Im convinced it is a core software bug  which impact some watches, because as i was writing about in 745 forum, downgrade helped. And of course, if you claim warranty watche will be repleaced, because they cannot suggest downgrade official firmware.

Pitty, forerunners has not full files avaliable like fenixis or instinct etc in beta forums.

Has anybody stored some older firmware for forerunner 955 with sensor hub, where wasn a problem with altitude? Please, send me i message or link, i will gladly take a risk and test it

  • It maybe getting even worse. Here are two recent runs with the newest beta firmware (no, the course is IRL not 100% flat in the beginning):

  • Software 20.29.

    Altimeter is still inaccurate.

Start and finish of the activity are in the same point (see picture below).

Ps: without any activity watch indicates the straight altimeter horizontal line during many hours.

    What's going on?
