Heart rate zones not updating

I have noticed that my heart rate zones do note change no matter which method i use to set it i.e. bpm, %hr max, %hrr or %lthr. I also find it frustrating that when selecting a method, i can see the set percentages for each zone but it does not show the corresponding HR range. Nevertheless no matter which method i use or by how much I change the percentage range, my zone 2 ends up being 112bpm to 129bpm. I currently have the %LTHR as the method, my current lactate threshold is 162, max hr is 185 and rest hr 44, so i do not think this is right. I have the auto detection HR and LTHR on. This issue impacts on the feedback received when when doing a run targeting a set heart rate zone and also when the activity is uploaded to Garmin connect. Has anyone come across the same? Any solutions?

  • I had the same problem at first. If you go to your watch settings on the watch or on the app, go to User profile > Heart Rate & Power Zones > Heart Rate > Sport Heart Rate (completely at the bottom) and then choose the sport you practice.

The other heart rate page, the one I'm assuming you've been editing this whole time, is only applied to the sports that are not running, biking or swimming. It's not really intuitive how it's set up right now, I had at least a week trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.

  • Thank you very much for the suggestion. I understand what you mean and will try to change the settings in that way. I think I tried before at least to change it to %HRR specific to running activity and it was the same. I'll try setting it by %LTHR. It's a shame that there isn't immediate feedback about what HR range the %LTHR for each zone equates to. I'm having to check it by going on a workout with HR zone as target. Maybe I'm missing something here to

  • That solved my issue, mate! Thanks a lot.
