Training days

Until now I did not dare to let FR955 take the lead in my training plan, because I was preparing for a marathon. Now that is done, I want to try to set a half marathon as primary race, and let FR suggest my trainings. Is there a way to tell FR which days I am able to run, and which not? It seems that I can only point out the day for long runs. And the watch gives me a suggestion for every other day, but I am not running on every day of the week.

Should I just ignore the daily suggestions on the days I do not run?

  • If you're following one of the Garmin Coach plans you can select which days you run.

Otherwise, just ignore the daily suggestion on your rest days. It will change its suggestions according to what you choose to do.

  • Thx! I suspected something like that. I will give it a try. If you use the Coach plan, can I relate the plan to a scheduled race then? Or is 16 weeks just 16 weeks. If the next run is in 12 weeks, does the Coach plan pick up at week 4 or does it start at week 1 and does not finish it in time... In other words, Do I have to start a Coach Plan exactly 16 weeks in advance?

I am asking, because I try to figure out which method is best for me.

  • If I remember correctly, you can set a target date for the plan, and it will adjust things appropriately if the target date is beyond the plan's duration. I can't remember what happens if the target date is sooner than the plan's duration.
