DND mode automatic from phone

Hi All,

Recently the laws were changed in Victoria, Australia regarding the use of portable devices including smart watches whilst driving.

Whilst my mobile phone is able to enter do not disturb mode automatically when connected to my cars bluetooth my Garmin Forerunner 955 does not enter do not disturb at the same time and I often get notification messages through to my watch whilst driving.  With the laws changing, a smart watch notification risks the user looking at their watch and risking legal ramifications as well as road safety issues.

It would be great if the Garmin watches could enter do not disturb mode to collaborate with the phones status - in a meeting - set your phone to do not disturb and your watch enters the mode as well, driving your car - same deal.  Currently the only way to enter do not disturb is to manually enter it on the watch face (which you may forget) or to set the mode by time of day e.g. sleep time.

The only other option is to remove your watch whilst driving which in itself is an issue and sort of negates the reason for having a watch in the first place.

Could the boffins at Garmin or app providers look at a way to sync the do not disturb mode on your phone with the watch?

Cheers Brendon
