Problems with Course Navigation

How do I use course navigation? I configured a course in Garmin Connect. I will attach some screenshots I took during the course. Why does it look so bad and off course, but not all the time ? The final track on Connect was very precise. Are the built in maps weird? What should I change to make it work properly?

What is your GPS setting? It seems to me that your GPS is off sometimes, what explains you are sometimes in the middle of nowhere. I believe connect has an option to "smooth" to the existing roads, so that is probably the reason it shows up better in there. I am using the course navigation often, and rarely see any deviations from the track.
