Incident Detection too sensitive [14.20]

I've noticed that the incident detection feature on my Garmin 955 has become way too sensitive.
Lots of times when I stop from running for any reason, the incident detection is triggered.

For example, if I stop to take a photo, the incident detection is triggered. Even when I stop to cross a road, the incident detection is triggered in lots of situations.

I'm wondering if this is happening to more people or if it's a bug that needs to be fixed.

Thanks!

  • For me it's happening after 14.20 update

  • It has never happened to me, see if with a softreset it improves.

  • Good morning. It has also happened to me lately, when I have done a sprint or series of sprints it jumps when I reduce the speed of said sprint. It is seen that they take care of us too much or watcus.... I hope that in the real case of incidents they will act effectively.ThinkingThinking

  • This happened twice while i am cycling. first one just stopping at the traffic light and today stop at the café and it trigger after 10 minute while the bike is parking. I am going to raise ticket with support and see what they are going to say.

  • Yep.  My Edge 830 has suddenly started alerting when I stop quickly and hit a bump in the roda - had to disable it until I can work out how to adjust it!

  • Same for me for a instinct 2 , I had been using incident detection for a few months for mountain biking and never had a false alarm (also no crahes). In the last 2 weeks I had 4 false alarms, but not necessarily when breaking or going over rough terrain.

  • Times that Incident Detection triggered for me:

    • I was pulling on a wire and it snapped. I hadn't fallen and wasn't injured, but the watch had sensed a jerk. (It would be triggering all the time if it considered the one it was strapped to.)
    • I tripped on a root and fell in a wooded area. No injury except to my pride as I landed among fallen leaves.
    • I tripped on a loose manhole cover and fell onto rough tarmac. I'm still recovering from that one.

It seemed pretty accurate for running and walking activities.

  • My incident detection went off about 10 times yesterday during an 11 mile run. It seemed to happen more when I was using course navigation with pace pro. I had to turn it off because I kept setting it off. I have no clue why it kept going off so frequently. I was not abruptly stopping. I'm on version 15.19.

  • I have had Incident Detection trigger when I sat down on a low wall at the end of an uphill sprint. (OK, it was more of a flop than a "sit".)
