Daylight savings - incorrect sleep calculation

Last night at 2am, clocks were moved forward to 3am.

I went to sleep after the time change, from 3:15am - 11:15am. This was 8 hours of sleep, yet Garmin incorrectly recorded it as only 7 hours of sleep (watch and web).

So, it appears Garmin just subtracts one hour -- regardless of when you go to bed!

I recommend to Garmin not to subtract an hour if you go to sleep after the time change.

  • Go into the Sleep panel in the Garmin Connect app. Below the Stages Timeline graph it shows the start and end times. You can use the three dots menu to Edit the times.

  • Thanks - the sleep times are correctly recorded, but the sleep duration was incorrectly calculated as 7 hours instead of 8.

  • Very strange! Probably another anomaly in the timezone handling. If you're in the US Eastern timezone perhaps the changeover in software happened at 02:00UTC (7am local). Across the EU (and UK) the DST change happens at the same instant on the same night. In the USA, it happens at different hours, depending on which time zone you're in (but always at 2am local time).

Perhaps note down the original sleep times and edit the sleep end time to progressively shorten the period, to find out which hour was skipped.
