Run/walk as a data field?

For long runs, I set the run/walk alert on the activity so that I can settle into a defined pattern. The count down for each then shows on a separate screen. However, I cant find a data field that gives the same, and therefore cannot add this to another page (ideally the maps screen). Am I not looking hard enough, or does this not exist?

  • Would "Interval Time / Lap Time" do it for you? These both count up though. I can't think of one that countsdown though I am sure this can be done as I have certainly run some coached workouts that give the remaining step time along with the pace swinger and some other fields. (edit: "interval time" might countdown for time based stuff / can't remember and can't test at the moment)

  • Unfortunately neither do what I need. I have auto lap to 1 mile, so it just counts that and resets. Interval time doesn't work either as the run/walk isn't part of a structured workout.

  • I don't think there is a data field that shows run/walk/idle.

The next best thing I can think of is a fartlek-style structured workout (alternating intervals of run and recover for walk). During your workout there should be a screen that counts down time/distance to the next interval, and then when the interval transition occurs it'll show you where in the workout you currently are. For instance, if you've set 10 run/walk intervals, then on the 7th walk intervals you'll see a screen popup for 5 seconds or so saying Recover 7/10.

  • I did consider that, but it only gives a max of 99 intervals. For a long ultra, that won't be enough. I'm not sure what happens on the 100th?
