Hi runners!
I have a 935 and after seeing that the 965 will have an AMOLED screen I am oriented towards the MIP 955.
How is the software situation with the 955? Does it have a lot of bugs or not working functions?

Reading the comments on this thread here gives me the impression that everyone owns a different watch with different bugs, even though everyone is talking about the FR955 series...
It all depends on what you want out of the watch.
For running, walking and hiking it's perfectly fine. If you're concerned about your Lactate Threshold, there's a recent bug that means it stops updating…
My 955 has a ton of bugs. It's unable to update maps, crashes after certain key combinations and has other general issues. What's worrisome is the watch has been out for 9 months now and many users complain…
For basic stuff the watch is fine. There are a few bugs and one is the LTH not updating as we would expect, - that is very frustrating - another seems to be one of the navigation issues. and soem issues with structured workouts. These you can see easily in the forum and some are across more than just the 955 it seems
I have had mine since June 2022 and sure we have had some frustrations , but the basics like GPS functionality are really very good. I dont have issues on a day to day basis , but sure it could be better.
I am not sure what your use case is , I am a fairly serious runner and it is great for most items. The issues haven't really bugged me too much. I also use training peaks with a coach and the workouts work well.
Happy to answer any particular concerns.
I use an HRM-PRO plus
Also I use iOS devices to connect to
Rather than relying on a few personal opinions you really should try to read across this forums section - if its possible for you. Every function/bug is discussed here and you can evaluate yourself, if its important for you or not.
I mean, whats the purpose of your question? Just the very first page is full enough of discussions about bugs. Just open your eyes.

For other sports the verdict is mixed. See the forum here for the various grumbles.
It works fine with the Running Dynamics pod, the Tempe and third party HR bands. There are problems with the HRM Pro which may be the watch or may be the HRM Pro itself.
I've had the 955 since launch and, apart from a period in August/September 2022 where the cadence measurement was broken, it's worked well for me. As you can guess I only tend to do running and walking.
Well this forum is for unhappy people:-) if you read the topics in the forerunner series, Venu, Vivoactive, epix, Fenix, tactix, Enduro,Mark series everyone is complaining. So my answer is no matter what watch you choose, they always will have bugs. Lots of people complaining about lactate threshold don't work, but since when this function is reliable? I don't care about it,in the lack of proper lab test i trust more in my stryd CP or put my last 10 km results on vdot from Jack Daniels, 80/20 calculator and they all agree in terms what pace is my threshold. Garmin is 15 seconds of, probably the heart rate is right but the pace is completely of. Since my forerunner 645 the lactate threshold values are wrong. In my personal case the only thing I consider annoying is i can't use stryd workout app, other wise works great. Navigation on trails works great, gps and heart rate works really well,no crashes,no lagg, great battery life, stable Bluetooth connection between the watch and my Samsung S21 and I have Fenix 7 solar too,and work like a charm, but with a better look and user experience.

i’m using the Stryd workout app almost daily. Do you have stryd data fiels enabled? And maybe remove the workout app and reinstall the workout app. I had once that I didn’t work and removed and reinstalled it.
I just ran into a bug/s that added 3km to my 5km interval workout in track mode yesterday. Last month I had to run a race with the low HR bug in hot weather. I consider bugs that majorly effect the accuracy of your activity files on a monthly basis as deal breakers. I am guessing that apart from that CPE bug, your 935 did not have these problems? I will wait for the for them to acknowledge and work on these bugs. In the mean time, the price of the 955 will come down.
My 955 has a ton of bugs. It's unable to update maps, crashes after certain key combinations and has other general issues. What's worrisome is the watch has been out for 9 months now and many users complain of the same issues. Instead of getting the 955 into a working state, Garmin chose to roll out the 965. I feel cheated. I would only recommend the 955 if you do not travel and only use the watch for logging Sports Activity.

It depends on your settings, software version and which aspects of the watch you use?
The 955 is great if you just use the core features and use it ideally standalone.
For me it replaced a 920XT and it does all those thinks - but much better. Maybe except the circular screen. For sport I liked the good okd square better to show the fields. But thats long gone.
Some problems like the incomplete alignment with an Edge or platforms like Zwift are still similar after all those years but at least not worse.
If it comes to newer or more special features like many newer statistics the chances that you run in some form of strange behaviour is high. Which one you will find or which impacts you will depend on your usecase and which of the features and profiles you use.
Personally I do not regret the buy and the lower versions would not have worked for my needs. But the HW is much better then the OS (and the close to nonexistung documentation) which is a bit dissapointing from time 2 time due to the unused potential it could bring if I could trust it more or if some of the nice2have features would just work as expected.
